Shields Brings Technical Textiles to New Areas

With over 40 years of expertise, Shields is known for its expertise in metallized fabrics. Shields, a Bremen, Germany based firm is one of the most prominent producers of antimicrobial electrically and thermally conductive solutions in addition to silvered fabrics and yarns for fabrics and other elastic uses. Shields solutions for the Turkish market through Teksel Tekstil provide tempting opportunities for growth in the most innovative applications.

Offering a variety of applications, Shieldex solutions come into contact with individuals in many different aspects of their daily life. The company’s silvered yarns were designed to be used in the textile and technical apparel industry. The thermally and electrically conductive properties of these fabrics are utilized in the automotive industry. In the context of digitalization, fabrics made of copper, silver nickel, tin, and silver are also widely utilized to protect data.

Antimicrobial Solutions for Medical Use

The medical industry is just one of the areas Shields(r) is a specialist in. The company has been providing antimicrobial and wound treatment products to this market for over 15 years. With its high-quality, long-lasting and sustainability attributes, Shieldex technology takes the healing power of silver a step further. Products made with 99.9 per cent pure silver possess antimicrobial, anti-odour and thermal effects, and reduce the number of bacteria. Additionally, it provides long-lasting usage because it permits clothes to be cleaned in lower temperatures, and less often.

The usage of Shieldex products is not restricted to medical use. Athletic wear, socks sheets, towels, bed linen masks, pouches, and gloves are more useful and valuable when they are silver-coloured Shieldex yarns. The antimicrobial products created by Shields are made in compliance with guidelines of European Union biocides regulation.

Shields Solutions in Next-Generation Electronics

Textiles with metallization in the next technological electronic parts are rising quickly. Textile electrodes made by Shields(r) that is adamant in this respect can be used for sensing/data transfer lighting, heating and sensing applications. Shieldex’s textile electrodes are perfect for TENS or EMS products to treat pain within the medical applications sector because of their structure.

They can be placed in areas that are difficult to treat and can transmit information and data from the source into electronic devices. Due to their thermal and electrical conductivity Shields(r) devices can easily be integrated into lighting and heating products. By using these products they ensure that the comfort of the skin is retained and the clothing remains flexible and elastic.

Shields(r) yarns as well as metallized components can be used to record and obtain different physical parameters. These components can be utilized for capacitive sensors, temperature sensors, and pressure sensors. By using heating structures, the ability to adjust electrical resistance and homogeneous temperature distribution is accomplished. Additionally, Shields solutions are intensively involved in the field of automotive prosthetics, medical, orthopaedics and wellness.

Shields(R) Offers More Protection for Facilities

Electronic equipment that is used to ensure the security of facilities might be damaged or its functions could not be managed, principally because of the increased wireless communication options and the increase in EMF. (EMF). Shields(r) offers solutions to the need for EMF shielding in automobile and aerospace facilities, as well as in warehouses with large volumes. Shields(r)’s shielding tents for electromagnetic radiation are designed around an idea known as the Faraday cage concept. Therefore, outgoing and incoming emissions are blocked within a specific frequency band.

The Faraday cage’s ability to shield large and small devices in high-frequency measurements is a perfect solution for automotive industries as well as warehouse management, security and aerospace. Shields(r) Electronic Enclosures serve as lightweight and mobile Faraday cages for both small as well as large objects.

Shields(r) RIF Curtains which allow for the separation of mobile and clear zones, improve efficiency by minimizing the chance of errors and reducing costs. Shields(r) Safety Pouches also offer protection against espionage as well as hacking to law enforcement personnel and the military.

Shields is home to an R&D department that is equipped with the latest technology for the development of products, process optimization and finishing of textiles. Shields supports the research of its partners and assists in their growth through its high-impact research consultancy. Shields along with its partners of institutes, universities and industry, offers technical low-cost, eco-friendly advanced, forward-looking and customized solutions to customers. 100% manufactured in Germany.

Bangladesh exports of home Textiles are experiencing an upswing

Recent figures provided by the Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) shows that in the months of July to October, home textile exports grew 47.86 per cent to $354.25 million from $239.59 million in the previous year.

The number of exports also shows an 18.24 per cent increase over the quarterly goal of $299.61 million, which was set in the past by the federal government.

In the last fiscal year, Bangladesh’s textile sector made $758.91 million.

Figure: The demand for the product has been soaring.

In addition to the common items like curtains, sheets, bed sheets, kitchen napkins, linen and blankets, covers for quilts comforters and cushions items such as hospital gowns and bed sheets have seen a huge increase in demand due to the COVID-19 epidemic that is spreading across the globe.

The fact that more and more people stay in their homes, or even hospitals, is leading to a booming market for almost invisible cloth.

Rashed Mosharraf, Common Supervisor for Advertising and marketing and Director of Operations at Zaber & Zubair Materials stated, “The shipments from Bangladesh elevated primarily as a result of its use has elevated.”

As a result of the COVID-19 epidemic that has affected the population, many are staying in for long periods which has increased the usage of household textiles significantly according to an official from the nation’s largest exporter of home textiles, which has annual numbers of around $200 million.

Although sales of clothing decreased in stores selling retail items in European as well as American markets, the sales of textiles for the home improved the expert said.
